North Otago Rugby Review June 3, 2014

Valley celebrated its 25th jubilee with a 38-8 win over Kurow on Saturday at Weston Park. Valley went out to a 21-3 halftime lead after Simeli Koniferedi had given Kurow a 3-0 lead with a penalty goal in the tenth minute. Scott Rowland and Cameron Schultz scored tries for Valley before the end of the first quarter and Brad McKenzie's conversions gave Valley a 14-3 lead. DJ Sears-Duru added the third try ten minutes from halftime and McKenzie added the conversion. McKenzie added an unconverted try early in the second half and fifteen minutes from fulltime Blair Malcolm touched down for an unconverted try. Koniferedi scored an unconverted try for Kurow to make it 31-8 before Valley first five eighth, Matt Iwikau scored Valley's sixth try which McKenzie converted.

Rugby Review 26 May, 2014

Excelsior created the upset in the eighth round of Citizens shield rugby when in a great display it defeated second placed Athletic Marist, 34-31 and with Valleys lost to Old Boys moved into third place on the ladder. Old Boys moved to an outright lead in Citizens shield rugby with a 17-3 win over Valley while Maheno recorded its second win of the season with a 33-7 defeat of Kurow.

Rugby Review - 17 May 2014

Old Boys came down from the upper atmosphere when it was held to a 45-22 win by bottom team Kurow which has yet to win a game. In an entertaining game Excelsior held its fourth position, one point behind Valley with a 31-24 win over Maheno while Athletic Marist dropped into second place despite a 24-9 win over Valley.

Club Rugby Review - 13 May, 2014

Old Boys scored twelve tries and retained its position as co-leaders in the Citizens shield with an 82-0 win over Maheno in round six of premier rugby. Athletic Marist although held to 5-5 in the first quarter of its game against Kurow pulled away in the remaining fifty minutes for a 46-5 victory and remain co-leaders with Old Boys. Valley avenged its first round defeat at the hands of Excelsior with a 30-12 win in the main game.
