Citizens Shield Final

Ralph Darling who led Old Boys to its fourth consecutive win in Citizens Shield rugby on Saturday believed it had been a real test and he and his team relished the worthwhile final. "When we had to battle as hard as we did to get on top of a tough Athletic Marist, it all makes it worthwhile. They were worthy opponents".

Citizens Shield Semi-Finals

Old Boys and Athletic Marist will meet in the Citizens Shield final next Saturday after the semi-finals on Saturday. In the first semi-final Athletic Marist courtesy of a Ben Palmer penalty in the 79th minute beat Excelsior 13-10 while Old Boys was given its best work out of the season scoring a late try in the 77th minute to edge out a gallant Valley side, 16-9.

Rugby Review, 15 July 2014

With little at stake the level of rugby dropped in the final round of Citizens shield qualifying. Old Boys led Excelsior 35-3 at halftime but in a messy second half won 42-10. Athletic Marist held off Kurow, 22-9 while Valley defeated Maheno, 26-7.

Rugby Review, 8 July 2014

Old Boys brushed aside the challenge of second placed Athletic Marist to record a 55-10 win. Excelsior cemented a spot in third place with a 25-22 win over Valley, while Kurow made it two in a row when it defeated Maheno 28-24.
